How to Use LazyTimer
LazyTimer is designed to be incredibly simple. Whether you're new to online timers or a productivity pro, you'll be timing your activities in seconds. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.
Quick Start Guide
Step 1: Choose Your Timer
Select from 50+ preset timers organized by category (Cooking, Productivity, Fitness, Wellness, Study, Daily Activities, Breaks) or create your own custom countdown.
Step 2: Click Start
Press the green "Start" button to begin your countdown. The timer will display on both the analog stopwatch and digital flip clock.
Step 3: Use the Controls
Use "Pause" to temporarily stop the timer, "Reset" to return to the original time, and "Start" again to resume.
Using Preset Timers
Our preset timers are perfect for common activities. Here's how to use them:
- Open the dropdown menu labeled "Select a Timer"
- Browse categories like Cooking, Work & Productivity, Fitness, etc.
- Click your desired timer (e.g., "Pomodoro - 25 min" or "Hard Boiled Eggs - 4 min")
- The timer automatically sets to your chosen duration
- Click Start to begin the countdown
Creating Custom Timers
Need a specific time that's not in our presets? Create a custom timer:
- Find "Or Custom" below the preset dropdown
- Enter minutes in the first box (0-999)
- Enter seconds in the second box (0-59)
- Click "Set" to apply your custom time
- Click Start to begin
Understanding the Timer Display
LazyTimer features two ways to view your countdown:
- Digital Flip Clock: Large, easy-to-read numbers showing minutes and seconds in MM:SS format
- Analog Stopwatch: Visual representation with moving hands, including a minute counter badge
- Minute Counter: Tracks completed minutes (helpful for longer timers)
Timer Controls Explained
- Start Button (Green): Begins the countdown. Changes to "Running..." when active
- Pause Button (Orange): Temporarily stops the timer without resetting
- Reset Button (Red): Returns timer to the original set duration

The Pomodoro Technique for Productivity
- Select "Pomodoro - 25 min" from Work & Productivity
- Work with complete focus for 25 minutes
- When timer ends, take a 5-minute break
- Repeat 4 times, then take a longer 15-30 minute break
Perfect Cooking Times
- Choose your recipe timer (e.g., "Boiled Pasta - 10 min")
- Start timer when water begins boiling
- Prepare other ingredients while timer runs
- Timer alerts you when food is perfectly cooked
Workout Intervals (HIIT Training)
- Use "HIIT Round - 7 min" or set custom intervals
- Alternate between high-intensity exercise and rest
- Reset between rounds for consistent timing
- Track completed minutes to monitor your session
Meditation & Mindfulness
- Select your meditation duration (5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 min)
- Find a comfortable position
- Start timer and close your eyes
- The alert will gently signal when your session is complete

- Use full screen: Press F11 for distraction-free timing
- Bookmark common timers: Save LazyTimer with your favorite duration in your browser
